Project Leader Spotlight

This week we spoke to Karen Berger, a four-time Project Leader for Be The Change Day as well as at places like Fix our Ferals, OBUGS, and Save the Bay.

1. Favorite HOBA project?

My favorite HOBA project may be the Fix Our Ferals clinic. It is amazing to see the number of feral cats that are spayed/neutered at this event, which is extremely efficient and cooperative, and benefits both the cats that are fixed, and those in need of homes from shelters, because more spaces will be freed up as a result of fewer feral kittens being born

2. Why did you become a PL?

I became a PL to be able to take a more active leadership role, also to help more projects take place in the East Bay by adding to the PL numbers here.

3. What do you do when you’re not leading volunteer projects?

When not leading projects - work, run, sleep, play with my cats.

4. Why Volunteer? Why HOBA?

Volunteering is important to me to feel like I am tangibly and consistently involved with and giving back to my community. HOBA is great because it's a way to efficiently keep track of volunteer possibilities around the SF Bay area, and meet like-minded people.

5. Either/Or's

Mountains or Oceans?

Mountains (hiking) *and* oceans (scuba diving/snorkeling)!

Crepes or Pancakes?

Crepes (tastier)

Haiku or Sonnets?

Haikus.

Soda or pop?
