After last year's Be the Change Day project at the Gardens at Lake Merritt, our Development Manager Donald Cooper developed a monthly calendar project that gets him out of HOBA HQ a least once a month! Meet him yourself at the Gardens every third Saturday, and at special Tuesday night projects this summer.

Annie Suzio-Granett has probably one of the best jobs in San Francisco. As a Corporate Project Leader and now an AmeriCorps VISTA, she's led memorable projects like a Mad Hatter Tea Party, painting school murals alongside Mickey Mouse, and setting up a photo booth at Julian St. Inn so that their clients might have a picture of themselves and their loved ones.

Sacred Heart- Huge percentage of the worlds population goes to sleep hungry. I wanted to help the homeless and hunger. Sacred Heart is a great place for that, we do a variety of activities like sorting the donated clothes, helping at the donation center, clearing up the card boards for recycling and my fav - filling up the paper bags with groceries which are distributed to the needy on a weekly basis.The people who work at…

Our new-member registration fee has brought in more than $1,000 for HOBA since it began on March 15. More than half of our new volunteers have chosen to support their service with $25 or more. At this rate, it looks like the fee will be able to cover about 20% of the cost of the calendar.
But the new fee has confused a few people who opt not to donate and wonder why certain projects are closed to them. Those who don't fill out a fee waiver form and don't donate…

Sometimes school groups, service fraternities, or a group of friends will look to HOBA for an opportunity to volunteer together. We encourage people to volunteer with their friends, club members and classmates -- however, we have some guidelines to ensure the needs of our nonprofit partners are met.
